Pain from neck and back injuries can range from uncomfortable to debilitating. A patient may be dealing with a temporary injury from a muscle strain or overuse. They also may have suffered a catastrophic injury from a work-related incident or an automobile injury. Degenerative or neurological conditions may also contribute to neck and spinal pain. Regardless of the cause, an individual who is suffering from this type of injury often has trouble working and enjoying their personal life and family. Our Melbourne physical therapists approach such issues with the goal of helping a patient increase functionality in their daily life.

neck injury

A back or neck injury can make it difficult for an individual to do a number of daily tasks which may include walking, picking up heavy objects, playing with their children, executing household tasks or working. Individuals with spinal injuries may also have difficulty sitting for long periods of time or experience trouble sleeping. Our physical therapists aim to help you achieve the best prognosis possible through a variety of therapeutic modalities.

During your initial evaluation, your therapist will assess your range of motion, flexibility, muscle strength, and current pain level. Your therapist will also ask you questions related to your day-to-day challenges, and seek to learn how your injury, whether it is chronic or acute, is affecting your day to day life. Based on your individualized injury, your therapist will create a program that may involve postural instruction, joint mobilization to ensure proper alignment, mobility and muscle strengthening exercises, as well as hot and cold therapies, electro stimulation treatments and massage.

Upon your initial contact with our office, a receptionist will discuss with you your condition, your health insurance, and they will ensure that you understand your financial obligation. If you are a worker’s comp referral or an automobile accident victim, our team will discuss with you your specific situation and guide you through the process. Once you arrive for your initial evaluation, your therapist will review any medical records that you possess as well as your intake forms, so that they have a better understanding of your needs. Your therapist will then create a customized program for you, that will include outpatient appointments for a specified number of weeks, as well as exercises, movements, and stretches to do at home. All therapy appointments will occur in a one-on-one setting with your therapist. Your therapist will not book any other appointments during your time or leave you to your own devices.
